  • shortening - 3/4 c
  • brown sugar, packed - 1 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • applesauce - 1/2 c
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • seedless raisins - 1 c
  • sifted flour
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • cinnamon - 3/4 tsp
  • cloves - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1/4 c

How to make applesauce cookies:

Heat oven to 375°. Mix sugar, shortening and egg thoroughly. Stir in applesauce. Add sifted flour and all other dry ingredients. Mix well. Add raisins and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls on slightly greased baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Yield: 3 dozen.
