Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- lard - 1 c
- egg, separated - 1 item
- crushed corn flakes - 2/3 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- sliced, peeled apples - 5 c
- milk - 1 item
- powdered sugar
- lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
How to make apple slices:
Glaze:1 c. powdered sugar2 Tbsp. lemon juice Sift together flour, sugar and salt; cut in lard. Drop egg yolk in measuring cup. Add milk to make 2/3 cup. Add to lard mixture just enough to shape dough into a ball. Roll out 1/2 dough to 15 x 11-inch rectangle pan. Cover with corn flakes, then apple slices. Mix sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples. Roll out remaining dough; place over apples. Pinch edges together. Beat egg whites until stiff. Spread on crust. Bake for 40 minutes at 425°. Take out of oven. While hot, drizzle over top of pie.
