Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- cinnamon - 1/8 tsp
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- butter - 3 Tbsp
- nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
- egg yolks - 3 item
- milk, heated - 1 c
- or 5 tart apples - 4 item
How to make apple pudding:
Custard:1/2 c. butter3/4 c. sugar3 eggs3 egg yolks1 c. milk, heated1 Tbsp. vanilla Topping:2/3 c. flour1/4 c. sugar1/2 c. brown sugar1/2 tsp. cinnamon1/2 tsp. nutmeg1/4 tsp. salt1/2 c. butter Peel and core apples. Slice thickly. Saute slices in butter, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cook about 10 minutes.Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and yolks and hot milk; add vanilla. Heat gently, beating with a whisk until smooth and begins to thicken.
Arrange apple slices in large, buttered glass baking dish. Pour the custard over the apples.
Mix together all the dry ingredients for the topping and cut in the butter for a coarse textured meal. Sprinkle over custard. Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve warm or cold, plain or with cream. Serves 8.
