Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- water - 3/4 c
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- dash of salt - 1 item
- ice water - 1/2 c
- fresh lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
- thinly sliced cooking apples 5 to 7 medium apples - 5 c
How to make apple pie:
Pastry:2 c. flour1/2 c. ice water1 tsp. salt1/2 lb. butter Combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in medium saucepan. Stir in 1/2 cup water, lemon juice and apples. Stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil. Cover and simmer 15 to 20 minutes, until apples are almost tender, stirring occasionally. Add cornstarch, mixed with 1/2 water, stirring until thickened and clear; stir in butter. Pour apple filling into pie crust. Bake in 350° oven for 30 minutes.Pastry - Pie Shell: Combine flour, salt and butter until mixture resembles course crumbs. Sprinkle with water and mix well.
