  • sugar - 1 c
  • cinnamon - 3/4 tsp
  • flour - 3/4 c
  • brown sugar - 1/4 c
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • hot water - 1/2 c
  • bread crumbs - 3 Tbsp
  • apples
  • broken pecans - 1/2 c
  • cold butter
  • single pie crust - 1 item

How to make apple pie:

Apple Filling:3 lb. apples1 c. sugar1/2 c. hot water1/4 c. brown sugar3/4 tsp. cinnamon1/4 tsp. nutmeg3 Tbsp. bread crumbs Streusel:6 Tbsp. cold butter3/4 c. flour1/2 c. broken pecans1/2 c. sugar Peel, core and slice apples. Combine apples, water and sugar in skillet. Cook and cover slowly until tender, not mushy. Cool. Pour into unbaked pie crust that has been sprinkled with bread crumbs. Sprinkle the apples with cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar. Bake at 425° for 20 to 25 minutes. Then place Streusel topping over apples. Continue to bake for 15 to 20 minutes longer.
