Apple nut cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- cream cheese - 8 oz
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- nuts - 1 c
- plain flour - 3 c
- eggs, well beaten - 3 item
- box powdered sugar - 1 item
- corn oil
- apples, chopped fine - 3 c
- Add soda and salt
How to make apple nut cake:
Sift flour, then measure. Add soda and salt. Sift 3 more times. In another bowl, mix corn oil and sugar well. Add beaten eggs to corn oil and sugar. Sift flour in slowly. Add nuts, apples and vanilla. Pour into 9-inch pans. Put in cold oven. Bake 45 minutes at 325°, no longer.This cake can be baked in a tube pan or loaf pans. I like it this way without frosting.
If layer cake is made, use your favorite frosting or use the following frosting.Frosting:1 stick margarine8 oz. cream cheese1 box powdered sugar1/2 c. nuts2 tsp. vanilla This also makes a good sheet cake, frosted and cut into squares.
