  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • brown sugar - 1/4 c
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • cornstarch
  • water
  • cold water - 6 Tbsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 6 Tbsp
  • flour, sifted
  • to 5 apples - 4 item

How to make apple dumplings:

Dough:2 c. flour, sifted1 tsp. baking powder3/4 tsp. salt6 Tbsp. shortening6 Tbsp. cold water Sauce:1 Tbsp. cornstarch1 c. brown sugar1 1/2 c. water3 Tbsp. butter Peel and core the apples. Mix brown sugar, butter and cinnamon; put in center of the apples.

Mix flour, baking powder, salt, shortening and cold water. Wrap dough around the apples.

For sauce, blend cornstarch and sugar. Add water and butter. Cook until thickened. Pour sauce over top of the apples. Bake in baking dish for 1 hour at 350°.
