Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 3 c
- butter - 1/2 c
- vegetable shortening - 1 c
- powdered sugar
- egg yolk, beaten - 1 item
- peeled, sliced apples
How to make apple danish:
Filling:6 c. peeled, sliced apples1 1/2 c. sugar2 Tbsp. flour1/2 c. butter1 tsp. cinnamon Glaze:1 1/2 c. powdered sugar2 to 3 Tbsp. milk1/8 tsp. salt1 tsp. vanilla Crust: Mix flour and salt. Cut in shortening. Combine milk and egg yolk; add to flour mixture. Roll out half on floured surface to fit 11 x 16 x 1/2-inch pan. Place in pan.Filling: Arrange apples on crust. Combine sugar, flour and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples. Dot with 1/2 cup butter. Roll out remaining crust and place over mixture. Brush pastry with 1 egg white slightly beaten. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes.
Glaze: Mix glaze ingredients. Spread glaze over warm Danish with a pastry brush.
