Ingredients/Components

  • apples, peeled, cored and sliced 5 1/2 c - 2 lb
  • water - 1/4 c
  • granulated sugar - 1/2 c
  • firmly packed light brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • each of ground nutmeg and cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 3/4 c
  • butter or margarine - 1/2 c

How to make apple crisp:

Put apples in shallow 2-quart casserole dish. Add water. Combine sugars, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt and flour. Cut in butter with pastry blender. Spoon evenly over apples. Cover and bake in preheated moderate oven (350°) for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for 30 minutes longer. Makes 6 servings.
