Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 2/3 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- margarine - 1/4 c
- Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy
- recipe Apple Topping - 1 item
How to make apple coffee cake:
Stir butter to soften. Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Sift together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating smooth after each addition. Pour into a greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Sprinkle with Apple Topping. Bake at 375° for 25 to 30 minutes, or until done. Cool 15 minutes. Cut into squares and serve warm.Apple Topping:1 c. finely chopped apple1/3 c. sugar1 tsp. cinnamon Combine the ingredients.My birthday is in the fall when apples are plentiful. Mother would make this for breakfast for my birthday. I was born 2 months after the dedication of the Lake Shelbyville Dam!
