Apple coffee cake



  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla - 3/4 tsp
  • granulated sugar - 1 c
  • packed brown sugar - 1/4 c
  • milk
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1/4 c
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • all-purpose flour - 3 c
  • margarine or butter, softened - 1/2 c
  • margarine, softened - 1 Tbsp
  • hot water - 2 3
  • ground cinnamon - 2 tsp
  • margarine or butter, melted - 2 Tbsp
  • apple pie filling - 1 can
  • Spray 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan with no-stick cooking spray

How to make apple coffee cake:

Heat oven to 350°. Spray 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan with no-stick cooking spray. Mix pie filling and cinnamon; reserve. Beat flour, granulated sugar, milk, softened margarine, baking powder, salt and eggs in large bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed, scraping bowl frequently, 2 minutes. Pour half of the batter (about 2 cups) into pan. Spoon half of the pie filling mixture (1 cup) over batter in pan; repeat with remaining batter and pie filling mixture. Sprinkle brown sugar and nuts over pie filling mixture. Drizzle with melted margarine. Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 45 minutes. Serve warm. Makes 12 to 16 servings.Glaze Topping (optional):3/4 c. powdered sugar1 Tbsp. margarine, softened3/4 tsp. vanilla2 to 3 tsp. hot water Beat all ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over baked cake.
