  • sugar - 1 c
  • cinnamon - 2 tsp
  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla - 3/4 tsp
  • packed brown sugar - 1/4 c
  • milk
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1/4 c
  • flour - 3 c
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • margarine or butter, softened - 1 Tbsp
  • oleo, softened - 1/2 c
  • hot water - 2 3
  • oleo, melted - 2 Tbsp
  • can apple pie filling - 1 oz
  • Pam nonstick cooking spray - 1 item
  • Spray rectangular pan 13 x 9 x 2-inch with Pam

How to make apple coffee cake:

Heat oven to 350°. Spray rectangular pan (13 x 9 x 2-inch) with Pam. Mix pie filling and cinnamon; reserve. Beat flour, granulated sugar, milk, softened margarine, baking powder, salt and eggs in a large bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly for 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed, scraping bowl frequently for 2 minutes. Pour half of the batter (about 2 cups) into pan. Spoon half of the pie filling mixture (about 1 cup) over batter in pan. Repeat with remaining batter and pie filling mixture. Sprinkle brown sugar and nuts over pie filling mixture. Drizzle with melted margarine. Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 45 to 55 minutes. Serve warm. Yields 12 to 16 servings.Glaze Topping (Optional):3/4 c. powdered sugar1 Tbsp. margarine or butter, softened3/4 tsp. vanilla2 to 3 tsp. hot water Beat until smooth and of desired consistency.
