  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla
  • milk - 1/4 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1 Tbsp
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • cooking oil - 1 c
  • chopped walnuts optional - 1/2 1
  • diced, pared apples - 3 c
  • Sift together 2 cups flour, salt and baking soda

How to make apple cake:

Beat together the oil, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Sift together 2 cups flour, salt and baking soda. Add dry ingredients, beating well after each addition. Stir in apples. Combine walnuts and 1 tablespoon flour; stir into batter. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 1 hour. Cool; spread with the following topping.Topping:1/2 c. margarine1 c. brown sugar1/4 c. milk Bring to a boil; boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Spread at once over top of cake.
