Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- cinnamon
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- vanilla extract - 2 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- eggs, separated - 8 item
- nutmeg
- oil
- powdered sugar - 1 item
- sifted flour - 3 c
- eggs, well beaten - 2 item
- softened butter or margarine - 1 lb
- chopped apples - 3 c
- coffee cream - 8 Tbsp
- well sifted flour cake flour is best
How to make apple cake:
Beat whites of eggs until stiff; add 6 tablespoons of the measured sugar and continue beating until sugar is dissolved. Put whites in refrigerator until balance of cake is mixed. Cream butter until soft. Add sugar a little at a time until well creamed. Then add 2 of the yellows at a time, beating well after each addition.Combine cream and vanilla. Alternate flour and liquid. Beat well after each addition of cream and flour, ending with flour. After well mixed, add the beaten egg whites until mixed well. Line tube pan with 3 layers of waxed paper, grease lightly. Bake 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours at 350°.
