Apple brown betty



  • packed brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • margarine or butter - 3 Tbsp
  • ground nutmeg - 1 tsp
  • orange juice - 1/4 c
  • soft bread crumbs 4 slices bread - 2 c
  • medium, tart cooking apples, pared and sliced - 5 item

How to make apple brown betty:

Place margarine or butter in medium bowl; microwave, uncovered, on High for 30 to 60 seconds until melted. Add bread crumbs; toss until well coated. Mix remaining ingredients. Arrange half of the apple mixture in square dish (8 x 8-inch). Top with half of the bread crumb mixture. Repeat apples and bread. Microwave, uncovered, on High 14 to 16 minutes, rotating dish 1/2 turn every 5 minutes, until apples are tender.
