Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- shortening - 3 Tbsp
- dry yeast - 1 pkg
- lukewarm water - 1/4 c
How to make angel biscuits:
Dissolve yeast in water. Measure and sift dry ingredients together. Cut shortening into mixture. Add milk and yeast. Stir until well blended. Store in refrigerator about 1 hour before baking. Roll dough 1/2-inch. Cut into biscuits. Let rise for 1 hour. Bake at 450° until brown. Yields 24.Dough can be stored and used as needed.
