Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 Tbsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 2 c
- shortening - 3/4 c
- self-rising flour - 5 c
- yeast - 1 pkg
- lukewarm water - 1/2 c
How to make angel biscuits:
Dissolve yeast with 1 tablespoon of sugar in water. Cut shortening into flour. Combine buttermilk, soda and salt. Add buttermilk and yeast mixture and remaining sugar to flour. Place in airtight container; refrigerate or roll out on a floured board. Place on a greased pan. Bake at 450° until golden brown, about 12 to 15 minutes.
