Ingredients/Components
- yeast - 1 pkg
- lukewarm water - 2 Tbsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- flour - 5 c
- sugar - 4 Tbsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1 c
- buttermilk - 2 c
How to make angel biscuits:
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Combine flour, soda, baking powder, salt and sugar. Cut in shortening until size of peas. Add buttermilk and then yeast mixture. Stir until flour is dampened. Knead on floured surface. Roll out and cut into biscuits. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in a 400° oven.Dough can be stored in tightly covered container in refrigerator for 2 weeks.
