Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • buttermilk - 1/2 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • shortening - 3 Tbsp
  • dry yeast - 1 pkg
  • lukewarm water

How to make angel biscuits:

Soften yeast in warm water and set aside. Sift dry ingredients together. Cut shortening into flour mixture. Add milk and softened yeast. Stir until well blended. Store in refrigerator about 1 hour before baking. Roll dough 1/2 inch thick and cut using a 2 inch cutter. Let rise for 1 hour. Bake at 450° for 10 minutes or until brown.
