  • sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking powder
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • unsifted flour
  • yeast - 1 pkg

How to make angel biscuits:

Sift the dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Dissolve yeast in warm water and add with milk to dry ingredients; mix well. Turn out on lightly floured board; add more flour as needed and roll to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut, then dip in melted butter and fold to make pocket book rolls or stack several together. Place on well-greased pan. Bake at 400° for 15 minutes.
