  • flour - 2 c
  • sugar - 2 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • stick margarine - 1 item
  • cocoa - 3 Tbsp
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • water - 1 c
  • beaten eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1/2 c
  • Boil together margarine, cocoa, shortening and water
  • jar Marshmallow Creme - 1 item
  • cans Angel Flake coconut - 2 item
  • Stir in coconut
  • milk - 6 Tbsp
  • confectioners sugar - 1 pkg
  • toasted, whole almonds - 1 c

How to make almond joy cake:

Combine sugar, flour and soda. Boil together margarine, cocoa, shortening and water. Pour over flour mixture. Add eggs, buttermilk and vanilla; mix. Bake in greased and floured 13 x 9-inch pan; cool.Filling:1 can evaporated milk1 jar Marshmallow Creme1 c. sugar2 cans Angel Flake coconut Heat milk, Marshmallow Creme and sugar until creamy and sugar melts. Stir in coconut. Pour over cake.Icing:3 Tbsp. cocoa1 stick margarine6 Tbsp. milk1 pkg. confectioners sugar1 c. toasted, whole almonds1 tsp. vanilla Boil cocoa, margarine and milk. Pour over sugar and stir until smooth. Add almonds and vanilla. Spread over filling.
