Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- semi-sweet chocolate - 8 oz
- butter - 1 c
- slivered almonds, chopped 1 1/2 c - 8 oz
How to make almond crunch:
Tips: Make only 1 batch at a time. Heavy saucepan is a must to prevent burning.Lightly toast almonds in a pan in 325° oven, stirring frequently. Cook butter and sugar in saucepan over low heat until sugar melts. Place thermometer in pan. Cook mixture about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thermometer registers 310°. Pour candy at once into greased 8-inch square pan. Cool. Melt half the chocolate over hot water. Spread evenly over candy. Sprinkle with 1/2 almond. pressing lightly into chocolate. Cool. Let chocolate harden. Invert candy on waxed paper. Melt remaining chocolate. Spread over candy. Sprinkle with remaining almonds. Press lightly. Cool. Break into bite-sized pieces. Store airtight.
