Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1 c
- cornstarch - 1/4 c
- water - 2 tsp
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- egg yolk - 1 item
- chopped almonds - 1/2 c
- cardamon ground - 1 tsp
- halved blanched almonds for decoration - 1 item
How to make almond cookies:
Cream butter and sugar. Sift together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder and spices. Blend into butter mixture. Stir in chopped nuts. Chill dough at least 2 hours. Shape dough into rounds the size of melon balls. Place on greased baking sheet; flatten slightly. Combine egg yolk and water; brush onto cookies. Top each cookie with a nutmeat, pressing into cookie.
