Ingredients/Components

  • butter, softened - 1 c
  • sugar - 1 c
  • eggs - 3 item
  • half and half - 2 Tbsp
  • milk - 2 Tbsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour
  • almond extract - 1/4 tsp
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • Amaretto - 2 Tbsp
  • powdered sugar, sifted
  • almond paste - 12 oz

How to make almond cake:

Almond Glaze:1 c. powdered sugar, sifted2 Tbsp. half and half1 Tbsp. Amaretto1/4 tsp. almond extract Cream butter. Gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each egg. Add almond paste; beat until smooth. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; stir well. Combine milk and Amaretto. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture, alternating with milk mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Mix after each addition. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove and cool completely on wire rack.

Combine and mix all ingredients for glaze until smooth. Spoon Almond Glaze over the top of cake, allowing it to drizzle down the sides. Top with 1/4 cup sliced toasted almonds.
